Born this day, September 6, 1757, his father died before he was two-years-old and his mother died when he was twelve. He inherited their fortune. At fourteen-years-old, he joined the French Military and, at age 16, became a captain and married Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles, whose family was related to the King. At 19, against the King's wishes, he purchased a ship and persuaded several French officers to accompany him to fight in the American Revolution.
Washington appointed him a major general. His name was Marquis de Lafayette.
He fought at Brandywine, endured the freezing winter at Valley Forge, saw action at Barren Hill and Rhode Island. He returned to France and, along with Franklin's efforts, secured troops and supplies for the American cause which helped force Cornwallis to surrender at Yorktown. Nearly fifty years later, Lafayette was guest at a ceremony at Bunker Hill, along with 200 Revolutionary Veterans.
Secretary of State Daniel Webster spoke: "God...has allowed you to behold the reward of your patriotic toils; and He has allowed to us...in the name of the present generation...in the name of liberty to thank you!"

Illegal Immigration brought to small town in Texas: City Councilman on the Hot Seat!
UPDATED!!! This was first reported last week.....now Texas City Councilman is on hot seat for his ideas!
The Aztlan and Mexica Movements raise Mexican flag over United States Post Office this past Saturday as a small group of demonstrators made Slauson Avenue in the tiny city of Maywood, CA feel like the red-hot center of the national debate over immigrant rights.
Why was there no arrest? And persons then tried for treason and sedition?
The pro-illegal alien protesters took down the US Flag in front of the post office near their protest line and raised the Mexican flag instead.
The protest was designed to bring attention to Maywood's decision to openly declare their city a sanctuary city where illegal aliens will be asked no questions by police. The city's resolution opposing the federal legislation was designed to say, "We won't use city funds to enforce immigration laws," Pedro Olguin said. Olguin, a union organizer from Maywood, stood with the counter-protesters, many of whom were from groups that drew from outside the city. Among them were Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, and the Mexica Movement, which proclaims that peoples indigenous to the Americas "are not the illegals. Europeans are the illegals."
Maywood has an official population of 28,000. But local officeholders say that about 45,000 people live there when illegal immigrants are fully counted.
Raising a flag connates success at taking the ground and apparently the illegal immigrants have deemed America conquered!
Farmer's Branch, TX city councilman Tim OHare has proposed the most absurd idea ever! He is asking his town to enforce laws that are already on the books and boy is he taking heat for it! Within 36 hours of his suggestion, it has become a front-and-center headline in the daily papers and on evening newscasts, a group has already started a campaign to have him removed from his position, a lawsuit has been drawn up and pro-illegal alien groups are spearheading a "boycott Farmers Branch" campaign.
O'Hare has laid it out simply; he says Farmers Branch should have English as the official language, persons hiring illegals should be fined and/or jailed, landlords should be fined for renting to illegals (and their 20 to 25 roommates) and day labor camps should be shut down. He says property taxes have taken a beating in his town and it's only going to get worse until the root of the problem is dealt with.
His plan:
1) Fine and/or jail employers who hire illegal immigrants
2) Fine and/or jail landlords who rent to illegal immigrants
3) Fine and/or jail AND deportation for illegal immigrants caught in local municipality
4) Routine inspection of day labor camps to insure that only US citizens use them
5) English as the official language of the city--even if this means joining a national legal fight to insure its legal status
6) Impounding of vehicle driven by illegal immigrant
7) Impounding and sale of vehicle driven by illegal immigrant without drivers license and insurance.
It is time for us to stand with Tim O'Hare.
