There is a great deal of beating of breasts and grinding of teeth over the war in Iraq and the possibility of war in Iran. I would call the attention of those of pacifist leanings to one very important point. The war in Iraq is not Bush’s war but rather the result of our elected congress failing to exercise their Constitutional authority. If congress hadn’t frittered away all their war making authority with the ill-advised War Powers Act we probably wouldn’t be in the current fix. By giving President FD Roosevelt virtually unlimited power to make war they opened a Pandora’s Box. Unfortunately, for us, the taxpayer, war is very profitable … for the businesses that make the instruments of war and those that clean up the mess later. Add to that the fact that at the end of hostilities, the President must ask congress to rescind his war powers, and we have a plan for disaster. Since World War II there has been an inclination to ignore that little requirement. The result is we have been, for all intents and purposes, in a perpetual state of war. No President has been willing to give up his authority to make war without congressional approval. So, is Bush to blame? In a way, yes. He started a war we didn’t really need. Is it entirely his fault? No. Congress needs to reassert the will of the people. We pay them to make sure we don’t get involved in conflicts that spend American lives for what appear to be purely economic reasons. The sad fact is that both parties care only for their own purposes. The electorate is only a bother at election time. As soon as they nail down another term, they forget what they are there for.
Now, for the silent two-front war. This war is even more dangerous to the American citizen than the wars of conquest, sorry, nation building, which we seem to pursue with carefree abandon. This war is being brought to us here in the United States of America. It is and will be fought with increasing ferocity here in the homeland.
Front # 1: Illegal immigration and the unsecured borders.
There is no alternative. All the rhetoric aside, WE MUST SECURE OUR BORDERS! The country cannot continue to allow uncontrolled immigration. Mexico has declared unconditional economic war on the US. It is also a war of conquest. The strain on our resources, public services, and economy is simply too big to be sustained let alone increased. Neither the President nor congress has any desire to step in this pile in the barnyard. However, step they must. We must continue to bombard our senators and representatives on a daily basis expressing our wishes. Flood their e-mail with correspondence. Do not give them a moment of rest. Also remind them that they are in Washington D.C. to represent us. And lastly, remind them that if they don’t learn to heed our will, we can recall them. They are not guaranteed a lifetime appointment. The threat of recall works. Ask Gray Davis of California.
Front # 2:
The second and more insidious war is the war against Islamic expansionism. Many people believe the hype that CAIR and other Muslim apologist groups spew forth, namely, that Islam is a “peaceful” religion. First of all, Islam is much more than a mere religion. It is a virulent, murderous, expansionist political system. We listen entirely too much to the idiots who believe the Muslim lobby machine. There may indeed be a rare animal known as the “moderate Muslim”, but I have yet to run across one. I have made a major effort to actually study the religious texts of Islam. I have studied the works of people such as Robert Spenser, Bat Yeor and others. The conclusion is that the “moderate Muslim” is a massive myth. I don’t believe they want us dead. No, they want us subjugated. You can’t get gizya (poll tax) from a dead infidel. True there are some murderous people acting in the name of Islam, but they are not the problem. It is the Muslim who migrates to another infidel country that spells disaster. These are the “sleeper” Muslims. No, they are not here to blow up buildings (for the most part). They are here to breed, and anchor other family members. Slowly but inexorably they build their numbers. Then, when there are enough of them, they demand a state of their own operating under S’haria. Once established, this state continues to encroach on the surrounding areas. The surrounding land is arabized or Islamized. Once an area becomes Islamized, in their minds it can never revert. It is forever dar al islam, the House of Islam. If this sounds farfetched, look at the happenings in the last few weeks in the UK. Muslims there are demanding that a sizable portion of jolly old England be set aside as a Muslim state under strict s’haria. Furthermore the good, “moderate” Muslims of England threaten violent jihad if their wishes are not met. The same is happening in France and Australia. It is only a matter of time before it happens here. Let’s see, which state or states can we afford to yield to their demands? Texas? California? New Mexico? Arizona? All of the above? Please understand, I am not against Muslims, I am against what they represent as a threat. Unlike most Americans, I have taken the trouble to really study Islam and its myths. I would hope those studies were objective and scholarly. Hopefully, others will do the same before it is too late.
This is a two-front war we had better darn well win. It is on our doorstep.
