Can Dr. Ron Paul possibly win?
Of course not. Everyone will be against him. Freedom is a foreign concept after 4-7 generations of government-controlled media and schools
Around 1986, the balance turned so that a majority of "Americans" are directly or indirectly paid by the government at the forced expense of the rest of us.
Government employees certainly won't vote for freedom against their false "security".
Oldpharts won't vote for anyone the opposition claims will lower their SS "benefits"
90% of Blacks & Hispanics, crippled folk, both mentally & physically, will vote for "security" over freedom every time.
The religionists won't vote for anyone who doesn't try to force THEIR brand of religion on anyone. While Ron's deeply religious, he's NEVER voted for anything that would impose any religious beliefs on anyone.
The processed food, drug and medical lobbies will all work to defeat anyone who knows their schemes.
Gays, women & special interest groups will vote against Paul as soon as they learn he won't vote for ANY "special rights" or "special posers" for anyone. Every major candidate will oppose Ron Paul, since none of them dare face an honest man in a major presidential election.
They media will pretend Dr. Paul doesn't exist as long as they can, then they'll fight the easy battle that has been so effective at defeating every Libertarian candidate since Jefferson ... they'll simply point out that everything about freedom will reduce their "entitlements" & threaten their "security". Will Ron's running as a Republican destroy the Libertarian Party, since all honest pro-freedom folks will register Republican to support Ron, leaving the Libertarian Party with inadequate numbers to qualify for ballot status?
Perhaps, but the LP Platform has been gutted of principle in the last couple years anyhow and why would we need that structure if we can run Ron Paul as a Republican for president?
However, only insane folks would really vote FOR Bush or Hillary to be our leader; they'll just vote AGAINST which ever they perceive as the worst human. If they had an honest candidate that might win, they might just vote FOR him, even if he were in favor of freedom.
I never would have believed that the Berlin Wall would come down in my lifetime. I never would have thought that the Americans could defeat Britain in the Revolutionary War. And, even 'tho Ron's very often the ONLY member of government voting for freedom on many issues, he's somehow managed to get re-elected for NINE terms as congressman!! He does know how to win ... without the concessions, bribes, smear tactics & dishonesty of the vast majority of today's politicians.
Maybe there's a chance to wake up the sleeping American Sense of Life, re-ignite the spark of freedom. Anyhow, I don't see that any honest pro-freedom has a choice but to put every ounce of effort and every spare dollar into helping this great man fight the dragon and bring back our liberty in our lifetime.

Bob Wynman sure makes a lot of assumptions about others, particularly those he doesn’t like. So it's only fair to make assumptions about his stands.
He must be a pragmatic utilitarian who believes we should rid America of rift raft; those he feels are unproductive or are a burden upon society. I guess that includes us old farts, Hispanics, or Blacks, especially those of us who're disabled. If we're sincere about our religious beliefs, God help us, as he "knows" we all want to impose our unscientific superstitions on the country and institute a Christian caliphate. And dare we vote for someone other than Ron Paul, we're insane. So much for the possibility of rational dialogue.
As a Republican for most of my adult life, I think the party is on its last legs. The neoconservatives who've taken over the party stand for a pragmatic greed that finds the Constitution irrelevant and too constraining, much like the liberal Democrats. The only real difference between them in end results is who owns them. The Libertarians lost their way when they adopted the idea that freedom means government has no concern whatsoever in morality.
If the truth be known, the real reason Ron Paul can't get elected is his courage and honesty, his lack of being beholden to special interest groups. Today America and the world is controlled by the golden rule. He who controls the gold controls the world.
What we need is a party that believes is a democratic Republic under the rule of constitutional law. Neither the Republican nor Democratic Party fit the bill and the Libertarian Party would rather make a statement that run on realistic platforms. It bodes ill for America.

#3. To: Bryan M (#2)It seems the Constitution Party has taken a far more sensible approach than has the Libertarian Party. As I understand it, the Constitution Party wants to limit the powers of congress to Article 1 Section 8 and relevant amendments. They oppose creative interpretations of the Constitution in favor of original intent as written by our Founding Fathers.
It must be said that some functions and programs which weren't authorized by the above must be grandfathered such as Social Security for those in the program. As the Bible says, one must keep their word even unto their own hurt. In as much as a great deal of federal law and programs are of dubious constitutionality, phase outs would take time. In the long run we would have a stronger country, and a much freer one.
Or we could do it overnight and wake up to a revolution and the disintigration of the Republic.
