Oh Joy! Oh Rapture! Ron Paul has authorized an exploratory committee to look at his chances for a presidential run in 2008. Nothing could cheer me more. It is almost an impossibility for a third party to field a viable candidate, especially if they are a strict constitutionalist. Ron Paul overcomes most of the problems as he is far from being an unknown. Dr. Pauls dedication to the rule of constitutional law and voting his oath is rare indeed. Most congressional types take the oath to uphold the Constitution and then a few days later they resume tearing down the rule of law it represents. Republican Party candidates have been the recipients of my vote, my work and my contributions ever since I became old enough to cast a ballot in 1964. The Republican Party that I supported stood for fiscal responsibility, social conservatism, national sovereignty and constitutional government. That party no longer exists. After seeing our son off for his second tour in Iraq last weekend, my wife and I returned home from Fort Hood, our son's wife and young daughter in tow, just in time to see the president sign the Military Commissions Act of 2006 into law.
